On this page, you will find useful information about math, science and social studies. Each subject has its own link which will include the unit we are currently working on, the standards we are covering, important assignments, volunteer opportunities and extra practice material. Our paraprofessional for the year will be Katie McOwen, who is new to Steck and an excellent addition to our classroom.
School Policies: Attendance- Please help your child be in school every day that he or she is well enough to attend. A child learns responsibility be attending regularly. However, if your child is sick, please call the school (303-355-7314) and let our secretary know of the absence.
Checkout- If you need to check your child out from class before our school day is finished; you will need to do so at the office. Please go directly to the office and sign them out with the secretary. Then you may pick up your child from the classroom. This procedure is for their safety!
Drop Off- Please bring your child no earlier than 8:00 a.m. and line up when the 8:10 bell rings. We will meet the students when the bell rings and walk into school together.
We strongly encourage you to say your goodbyes on the blacktop and allow your child to walk into school with his or her class. Remember, the tardy bell will ring by 8:15!
Dismissal- First grade dismisses on the West side, against the building at 3:00 p.m. PLEASE make contact with us before leaving the group area.
Labeling- Please put your child’s name on all coats, backpacks, book bags, gloves, scarves, etc. This keeps items from getting lost or ending up in our lost and found. Due to the fact that our classroom uses supplies (pencils, glue, scissors, etc.) as a community, these items DO NOT need to be labeled.
Friday Folders- Every Friday, we will be sending home a folder with your child that includes work from the past week. Please go through the folder and examine the amazing work that your child has done and return the empty folder on Monday.
